Product Description
The standard print image size that I provide is generally 11" X 17". Some are cropped to slightly different proportions depending on the scene. The details of the scanning, printing and mounting techniques employed are described below.
Scanning and Printing
All photographs that I provide receive giclée printing treatment. The term “giclée” refers to an extremely high quality reproduction process that equals or surpasses traditional gelatin or silver halide printing processes. Slides are scanned at a high resolution on a dedicated slide scanner. The image is then printed on a state-of-the-art digital printer onto archival quality paper using archival quality inks.
The result is a finished photograph with exceptional colour rendition and sharpness that improves upon other means of reproduction.
Giclée
(zhee-klay) - The French word "giclée" is a feminine noun that means a spray or a spurt of liquid. The word may have been derived from the French verb "gicler" meaning "to squirt".
Mounting
The mounting that I offer as a standard format is my preferred choice for presentation of my photographs at galleries and other showings. It is my feeling that the following configuration brings out the colour, texture and composition of the photographs.
The photographs receive a museum quality mounting treatment. Each photograph is single matted using museum-grade, cotton core conservation board (acid and lignin free) with conservation surface papers. The matte colour, unless otherwise requested, is black in colour and features a black core. The black core eliminates the white cut line around the inside edge of the matte which, in my opinion, is a fantastic improvement over standard, white core matte.
Archival paper tape is used to mount and back the photos. This museum quality tape is slightly alkaline to neutralize environmental acids over time resulting in a balanced pH.
The photographs are ready to be hung using a high quality, clip hanging system.
The result is an extremely professional, sophisticated look.
Framing is a highly subjective and individualistic matter. The possibilities are infinite. Appropriate choices around framing are next to impossible to make without viewing the photograph and frame options together. If a frame is desired, the delivered, mounted pieces are ready to accept framing of your choice.
For an additional $55, a simple, flat black, anodized metal frame can be provided.
